MyCIF Roadshow @ Sabah: Empowering Financing, Advancing Growth

31 July 2025

Cofundr was honored to participate in the MyCIF Roadshow in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on 31 July 2025 hosted by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC). Themed “Empowering Financing, Advancing Growth,” the event brought together leaders in peer-to-peer (P2P) financing, equity crowdfunding (ECF), banking, fintech, venture capital, private equity, government agencies, and over 300 MSME representatives. The Minister of Industrial Development & Entrepreneurship, YB Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, officiated the event.

Sessions explored the future of alternative financing for SMEs in Malaysia, including:

  • Equity Crowdfunding (ECF): From pitch deck to investor deal & building investor communities
  • Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Financing: Financing for impact & Shariah-compliant solutions

These topics reflect the rapid growth of digital lending platforms in Malaysia aligning with SC’s fintech roadmap and MyCIF’s mission to improve MSME access to capital.

As the only P2P operator providing Takaful Contribution Financing (TCF) and Insurance Premium Financing (IPF), Cofundr emphasized our role in helping Malaysian SMEs ease financial burdens, protect their business continuity, and maintain healthier balance sheets. Unlike traditional financing or conventional lenders, Cofundr delivers Shariah-compliant P2P financing solutions tailored to local businesses.

The event reinforced how P2P lending platforms in Malaysia like Cofundr, Funding Societies, and CapBay are reshaping SME financing. By standing alongside major fintech players, Cofundr showcased our commitment to making financing more accessible and inclusive for underserved entrepreneurs.

MyCIF, Malaysia’s first public-private co-investment model has already co-invested in over 70,000 campaigns, benefiting more than 9,500 MSMEs nationwide. Participation in Sabah underlines Cofundr’s position as a key contributor to the P2P financing Malaysia market, driving financial inclusion and SME growth.

Cofundr is proud to be part of the MyCIF Roadshow in Sabah and will continue supporting Malaysian MSMEs with innovative and Shariah-compliant financing solutions.
